Mar 15, 2024 | News

Tooele County has started a journey of transformative growth and community enrichment with the unveiling of the Deseret Peak Master Plan. This visionary project, spanning multiple phases, aims to elevate the Deseret Peak Complex into a premier destination within Tooele County, offering an array of recreational, cultural, and community-focused enhancements.

Phase 1: Festival Area

The opening phase, currently under construction, introduces the Festival Area—a 16-acre grass field situated on the northwest corner of Deseret Peak near the fire museum. Scheduled for completion by July 1, 2024, the Festival Area is envisioned as the primary venue for large-scale festivals and events. This vibrant space will foster community gatherings, celebrations, and cultural events, creating a dynamic hub for residents and visitors alike.

Phase 2: Peak View Park and Beyond

Peak View Park

Phase 2 of the master plan is in its final stages of design, with construction set to commence in June 2024. The spotlight of this phase is on the creation of Peak View Park—a large 6-acre park space located on the south end of DPC along Highway 112. This park will feature a pavilion, restrooms, and a destination playground designed to delight all ages. Ziplines, swings, multiple play areas, and accessible playground pieces will make Peak View Park a unique and inclusive recreational haven. The park’s name is a nod to its breathtaking views of Deseret Peak, providing a picturesque backdrop for various activities.

Additional Enhancements

Phase 2 goes beyond the park, introducing an array of enhancements:

  • RV Park: A brand-new RV park will offer a scenic and comfortable outdoor living experience.
  • Athletic Fields: Six additional multi-purpose athletic fields, including four sport turf fields, will provide expanded playing options throughout the year.
  • Energy Solutions Aquatics Center: Anticipate the construction of brand-new pools at the Energy Solutions Aquatics Center, promising refreshing aquatic experiences for residents.
  • Infrastructure Upgrades: The pavilion, rodeo arena, equestrian stalls, and other key facilities will undergo upgrades, enhancing their functionality and appeal.

Construction for Phase 2 is slated to begin in June 2024, with anticipated completion dates extending into 2025 and 2026.
